USA Miss Universe

USA Miss Universe the top finalists took the stage for the swimsuit portion of the pageant. See the final 10 contestants as they compete in the the 65th annual Miss Universe pageant, held on December 20, 2018, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Miss Universe has been whittled down from 80 to 15 to 10 and finally five contestants including women representing the United States, France, Colombia, Philippines and Australia.

The 24-year-old woman representing Mexico who had threatened not to participate at the time Trump still co-owned the pageant made it to the final 15 but not the final 10.

Trump sold the pageant in September and Wendy Esparza of Mexico reconsidered her entry saying on her Instagram account that "love and respect between individuals and countries will always be more powerful than hatred."

The competition started with women representing 80 countries between the ages of 19 and 27. For the first time, viewers at home will get to weigh in, with their votes being tallied in addition to four in-person celebrity judges.

NBCUniversal and Trump co-owned the Miss Universe Organization until earlier this year. The real-estate developer offended Hispanics in June when he made anti-immigrant remarks in announcing his Republican presidential run.

Miss USA 2018

Miss USA 2018. The country’s representative to the Miss Universe 2018 will also come from the Miss USA 2018. This is true since the winner of this pageant will take part in one of the most prestigious international beauty contests, the Miss Universe pageant. In addition, the Miss USA pageant is also both being managed by Donald Trump and the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) under the good leadership of Paula Shugart. As such, many American ladies really aspire to represent their respective states in the pageant. More than anything else, they want to get hold of the title as the Miss USA 2018.

As what the majority of pageant fans are expecting, Miss Nevada 2014 Nia Sanchez will be at the grand coronation night of Miss USA 2018. She succeeded the title last June this year in Louisiana. This is not the first time that she joined a pageant. In fact, she was hailed as Miss Citrus Valley USA in 2010. Being the titleholder, she will represent the country in the Miss Universe 2014 pageant which will be held in Doral, Florida on January 25 next year. Admittedly, she is also excited to know who will succeed her in the Miss USA 2018.

Miss Teen USA

2018 Miss Teen USA is a beauty pageant run by the Miss Universe Organization for girls aged 14–19. The reigning titleholder is K. Lee Graham of South Carolina. Unlike it's sister pageants Miss Universe and Miss USA, the pageant is webcast on the Miss Teen USA website and simulcast on Microsoft's Xbox Live service.

The pageant was first held in 1983 and has been broadcast live on CBS until 2002 and then on NBC from 2003–2007. In March 2007 it was announced that the broadcast of the Miss Teen USA pageant on NBC had not been renewed, and that Miss Teen USA 2007 would be the final televised event.

Since 2008, the pageant is held at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, located in Nassau, Bahamas.

Notable pageant winners include actresses Kelly Hu (1985, Hawaii), Bridgette Wilson (1990, Oregon), Charlotte Lopez-Ayanna (1993, Vermont), Vanessa Minnillo (1998, South Carolina), Shelley Hennig (2004, Louisiana), and sportscaster Allie LaForce (2005, Ohio).

Miss Universe 2018

Miss Universe 2018 Pageant is held over a two-week period in December. In the 1970s through the 1990s, the pageant was a month long. This allowed time for rehearsals, appearances, and the preliminary competition, with the winner being crowned by the previous year's titleholder during the final competition.
According to the organizers, the Miss Universe contest is more than a beauty pageant: women aspiring to become Miss Universe must be intelligent, well-mannered, and cultured. Often a candidate has lost because she did not have a good answer during the question responses rounds; although this section of competition has held less importance during recent pageants than it did in the twentieth century. Delegates also participate in swimsuit and evening gown competitions.
Currently, the final placement of the finalists is determined by a ranked vote, where each judge ranks each of the final three/five candidates, with the contestant posting the lowest cumulative score (thus often, but not necessarily always, the contestant with the most number one votes) becoming the winner. If there is a tie, the higher semifinal scores become decisive.
The winner is assigned a one-year contract with the Miss Universe Organization, going overseas to spread messages about the control of diseases, peace, and public awareness of AIDS. Since Donald Trump took over the pageant, the winner has been given the use of a Trump Place apartment in New York City during her reign. If the winner, for any reason, cannot fulfill her duties as Miss Universe, the 1st runner-up takes over.
Aside from the main winner and her runners-up, special awards are also given to the winners of the best National Costume, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Congeniality. The Miss Congeniality award is chosen by the delegates themselves. In recent years, Miss Photogenic has been chosen by popular internet vote (the winner used to be chosen by media personnel covering the event).

2018 Miss Universe USA

There is still no date and venue for the staging of the 2014 Miss Universe beauty contest… but we know where Miss Universe 2018 will be held! During a Press Conference today for Miss Universe USA 2014, they said “movie producer Andy Vajna and his wife bought the licence rights of MU Hungary and the licence contract includes Miss Universe coming to Budapest in 2018.”

Miss Universe USA was held for the first time in 1992. In 2008, the Miss Universe USA Organization started to choose three equal winners until 2013 to represent Hungary at Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth pageants. In 2018 the new company in under management of Tímea Vajna & Andrew G will held the Miss Universe USA in separate pageant.

Colombia Miss Universe 2018

Miss Colombia is a national beauty pageant in Colombia. The winner, Señorita Colombia, is sent to Miss Universe and the first runner-up, Señorita Colombia Internacional or Virreina, to Miss Miss International. This pageant is not related to Miss Mundo Colombia and Miss Earth Colombia.

The Miss Colombia pageant is held annually in Cartagena. Coverage is given by the media to the contest, including by Cromos magazine which devotes entire issues to the individual contestants favored to win, and four covers of the magazine are devoted to the pageant in a 4-week period.

Every major network sends news crews, and have sets built by the beach in Cartagena to report live for at least fifteen minutes every day towards the end of the news broadcast on the goings-on of the contestants. Aspirants must compete in their respective Departments to earn a title for the pageant.

Miss Universe USA 2018

The 2018 Miss USA pageant was conceived in 1950 when Yolande Betbeze, winner of the rival Miss America pageant, refused to pose for publicity pictures while wearing a swimsuit. Pageant sponsor Catalina decided to pull their sponsorship off the pageant and create their own competition.[3] Other owners have included a subsidiary of Gulf+Western Industries, ITT Corporation, and billionaire Donald Trump, the current owner who bought the pageant in 1996.[4][5]

The first Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants were held concurrently in Long Beach, California in 1952; the first Miss USA winner was Miss New York USA Jackie Loughery.[6] There were thirty delegates in the first year of competition, and many states did not compete every year during the first two decades of the pageant's history. From the 1970s, each state and the District of Columbia have sent a delegate each year. Alaska first competed in 1959 and Hawaii in 1960. Both had competed at Miss Universe until this time.

The pageant aired on CBS from 1963 until 2002, and for many years was known for having a CBS game show host as pageant host. John Charles Daly hosted the show from 1963–1966, Bob Barker from 1967 (He wasn't a regular for the CBS network until 1972 when he became host of The Price Is Right) until 1987 (at which point he quit in a dispute over fur coats), Alan Thicke in 1988, Dick Clark from 1989-1993, and Bob Goen from 1994–1996. The show's highest ratings were in the early 1980s, when it regularly topped the Nielsen ratings.[7][8][9] Viewership dropped sharply from the 1990s to the 2000s, from an estimated viewership of 20 million to an average of 7 million from 2000–2001.[10] In 2002, owner Donald Trump brokered a new deal with NBC, giving them half-ownership of the Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA and moving them to NBC on an initial five-year contract.[11] The pageants were first shown on NBC in 2003.

Contestant crowned at Miss Universe

Beauty pageants are places where grace and poise are meant to rule, but a decidedly awkward moment stole the show Sunday.

Miss Universe 2018 host Steve Harvey wrongfully declared Miss Colombia the winner when she was the first runner-up. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the contestant from the Philippines, had won.

A contrite Harvey was forced to fix his mistake.

"OK folks ... I have to apologize," he told a confused crowd in Las Vegas.

"Let me just take control of this. This is exactly what's on the card. I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card."

Moments before, he'd announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner, and she was crowned. Waving a Colombian flag and smiling broadly, she blew kisses at the audience.

When Harvey returned to the stage, Wurtzbach appeared at a loss of what to do.

Stunned, she walked to the front of the stage, where the coveted crown was taken off the head of Miss Colombia and put on hers.

Harvey later took to Twitter to apologize, but he made another misstep when he misspelled both Colombia and the Philippines in an initial tweet. That message was deleted.

"I don't want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants. They were all amazing," Harvey wrote.

Mexico Miss Universe 2018

Miss Mexico is a Mexican national beauty pageant held annually since 1952. It is responsible for selecting the country's delegates to three of the most relevant international beauty contests, Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International

The Miss Mexico Organization has produced two Miss Universe titles for Mexico: Miss Universe 1991 and 2010. It is directed by Lupita Jones, the first Mexican Miss Universe in 1991. Miss Mexico is managed by Nuestra Belleza México since 1994, replacing Señorita México from 1952 to 1993.

Aspiring hopefuls ranging from 18 to 23 years of age and a minimum height of 1.68 m (5 ft 6 in) must fulfill the organization's additional requirements and vie in their respective state pageants for eligibility to participate in Nuestra Belleza México (Miss Mexico). Contestants are permitted to compete for their sub-national beauty titles more than once, as long as they still meet the age limit. This, however, can no longer be done once they have taken part in the national event, be it even as a designated contestant. As of 2000, it is not uncommon for some administrative divisions of the country to have more than one delegate competing simultaneously. This generally occurs when non-winning state pageant hopefuls are invited (designated) by the organization to partake in the national competition, either because they believe in the contestants' potential, or simply because other states lack representation. Over thirty of Mexico's most beautiful young women collide each year.

Miss Universe 2018 Predictions

Every year, miss universe predictions for each state holds a preliminary competition to choose their delegate for the Miss USA pageant. In some states (such as Texas and Florida), local pageants are also held to determine delegates for the state competition. The state winners hold the title "Miss State USA" for the year of their reign.

The most successful state is Texas, which has had the most semi-finalists and winners, including five consecutive Miss USA titleholders during the 1980s.[21] Other successful states include California, New York, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia. The least successful states are Delaware, placing only once in 2016; Montana, which has not placed since the 1950s; South Dakota, which has only placed twice (the last time in 1974), and Wyoming, which gained only its second placement in 2010. The only state which has produced more than one Miss Universe is South Carolina.

The Miss Universe Organization licenses out the state pageants to pageant directors, who in some cases are responsible for more than one state. The most well established directorial groups are RPM Productions, created in 1980 (Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina), and Vanbros, created in the early 1990s (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma). Future Productions direct the most states, seven, across the Midwest and Rockies.

Miss Universe 2018 Contestants

The first modern beauty pageant was held during the Eglinton Tournament of 1839 held by Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton, a re-enactment of a medieval joust that was held in Scotland. The pageant was won by Georgiana Seymour, Duchess of Somerset, the wife of Edward Seymour, 12th Duke of Somerset and sister of Caroline Norton, and she was proclaimed as the 'Queen of Beauty'.

Entrepreneur Phineas Taylor Barnum staged the first modern American pageant in 1854, but his beauty contest was closed down by public protest. He previously held dog, baby, and bird beauty contests. He substituted daguerreotypes for judging, a practice quickly adopted by newspapers. Newspapers held photo beauty contests for many decades.

It was in the 1880s that beauty pageants became more popular. In 1888 the title of 'beauty queen' was awarded to an 18-year-old Creole contestant at a pageant in Spa, Belgium. All participants had to supply a photograph and a short description of themselves to be eligible for entry and a final selection of 21 were judged by a formal panel.
